This post card, the last, signals the end of the “Historic Highways”
driving tour contest.

A real estate axiom: preparation sometimes separates the acceptance or rejection of a contract. The real estate agent who presents or reviews an offer complete with supporting documents, will most likely ink a deal. The agent who is not as thorough may walk away empty-handed.

Pictured reverse: “Skip” Doede, left, of R. A. Doede Restorations, Elburn, and the 1941 Chrysler wagon; Steve Grobl, center, and the 1946 convertible; and Dave Grobl, right, with the 1948 sedan. “Skip” prepared each of these cars for the many miles they would have to travel on this driving tour. Gas, oil and a wash were the only attention these original vehicles received during the trip.

Question #4: The steamboat pictured is a replica. The original was destroyed by fire in 1981. In what town is the paddlewheeler permanently displayed?

Contest winners will name the lake and inventor of water skis from the
February postcard; name the garden from the March postcard; name the town and state from April’s card; and answer Question #4, above.

Contact me via any of the modes listed. The contest ends at 6:00 p.m. CDT, Sunday, May 30, 2004. In the event of multiple winning answers, the earliest contact will determine the winner. Include your name and telephone number in your response.

Winners of the $200.00 first prize and $100.00 second prize will be announced in our August mailing.

Happy sleuthing,
