2008 Postcard #1
Steve Grobl Real Estate begins each year with a sleuthing contest.
The 2008 edition, our ninth, “Illinois Mansions,” will test your knowledge of chemistry, economics, journalism, music, and political science.
January through May you will receive post cards providing clues necessary to answer questions and win either the $200 first prize or the $100 second prize. Winners will receive American Express Gift Checks.
A real estate axiom: In both times of rapid or tepid appreciation, location and condition are key, as those properties, priced properly, attract attention and are always in demand.
Pictured above: a pre-Civil War Italianate mansion finished in 1857-8 at the then astounding cost of $25,000. Steve’s 1941 Chrysler Town and Country cost less than $2,500 when new.
Question #1: Name this mansion overlooking a park, the site of the first Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
Save this post card, #1 of 5. Each has a question that must be answered in May. Click here to view the postcards from our previous contests.
Good luck,
