2008 Postcard #2
Built in 1914, the building's first owner sold the property after fleeing to Greece. The original owner is the subject of the classic economics discussion of natural monopolies.
A real estate axiom: No monopolies exist in Naperville real estate. In fact, the Internet has leveled the playing field between independent and franchised agencies. More than ever before, higher volume may not mean better results or better service.
Pictured above: Steve and his 1946 Chrysler Town and Country convertible in front of Samuel Insull's mansion.
Question #2 in our "Illinois Mansions" contest: Give both the name of the second family to own this home and the name of their dairy farm.
Save this post card, #2 of 5. Each has a question that must be answered in May. Remember, first prize is $200, second $100. Click here to view the other postcards in this contest.
