2009 Postcard #2
Legend has it that in the late 1600s, warned of trouble down stream, a French trader buried his goods near this Des Plaines River site.
A real estate axiom: In a buyer's market, sellers need to prepare their home to a level noticeably higher than that of competing properties. It could be as simple as keeping it light, bright and airy.
Pictured above: Steve at a Potowatomi longhouse. Longhouses, although not light and bright, were bark covered and many families could reside inside one building.
Question #2 in our "Native Americans of Illinois" contest: Name and give the location of this island referred to as "Island of the Hiding Place."
Save this post card, #2 of 5. Each has a question that must be answered in May. Remember, first prize is $200, second, $100. Check our website if you missed a previously sent post card. Click here to view the postcards from our previous contests.
