2012 Postcard #2
Venice is a city built on 117 islands. Most of the buildings are supported by wooden piles, submerged for centuries in oxygen poor conditions, now petrified by mineral rich water.
A real estate axiom: Buyers, you are afforded 5 days post contract signing to do a home inspection focused on health and safety issues. It is well worth the expense.
Pictured above: off the tourist path, a typical Venetian neighborhood scene of buildings, bridges, and canals.
Question #2 in our “Sounds and Sights of Italy” contest: Identify the type of wood most commonly used in the foundation pilings.
Save this post card: it is #2 of 5 you will receive. Each has a question that must be answered during May. Remember, first prize is $200, second $100. Click here to view earlier postcards from this contest and postcards from our previous contests.
